Project Description

Acne Scar Treatments with Lasers, surgery and fillers

We offer advanced combinations of Acne Scar Treatments, using lasers, surgery and fillers designed to your unique needs.

Many of our patients reduce their acne scarring with a combination of surgical scar subcision (ScarRelease™) followed by Erbium:Yag or CO2 laser treatments at the same treatment session. Sometimes we “surgically revise” scars. For some patients injections with corticosteroids or fillers, like Radiesse™ or Voluma™ can really help to improve acne scars.

Everyone’s acne scars are different — we will discuss your treatment options, dsign your own personal treatment plan, give you realistic expectations for success, and what it will cost. Our goal is to help your face look smoother and softer. Let us tailor an acne scar treatment that’s right for you.

Types of treatments

We use different approaches for certain types of scars. In treating surgical scars we may excise the scar and/or reduce its width with one of our lasers. While, for hypertrophic scars (or keloids) we may inject with corticosteroids and/or treat with IPL (intense-pulsed light). For some types of acne scars, we may first surgically remove certain prominent scars and then resurface one area or the whole face with the CO2 super-pulsed (NovaPulse) laser.

New, Better Treatments: Facial Acne Scars

Helping patients with acne scarring is a welcome challenge – and one usually rewarded with satisfying results.

ScarRelease™ surgical subcision

With just local anesthesia we can painlessly release some of the fibrous strands that tether facial scars inward, creating the indented or rolling scar pattern caused by facial acne. Downtime is surprisingly minimal and the fees reasonable. ScarRelease™ subcision can be sometimes combined with ablative laser resurfacing to achieve even greater smoothness. Soft tissue augmentation with “fillers” like Restylane™, Radiesse™ and Sculptra™ can even out certain scar-induced defects for a period of months to years. In-office surgery and Kenalog™ (“cortisone”) injections also plays a role in reducing some types of acne scars.

Scar reduction results

There are other treatment options for different kinds of scars. Most people treated realize substantial improvement in the look or feel of their scar(s). But it must be remembered that the realistic goal is IMPROVEMENT, not perfection.
